Their Use in Industrial Hot Melt Products

Every industry uses industrial hot melt in applications designed for particular uses. Many different types of glue sticks, bulk hot melt adhesives (HMAs), and dispensing devices have been developed with particular uses in mind. The different HMAs differ in terms of color, viscosity, raw components, heating temperature, and set time.

Adhesives that melt and flow when heat is applied and solidify when cooled to provide a strong adherence are known as hot melt adhesives. Depending on the purpose and the materials to be bonded, they are applied in a molten state at temperatures between 120 and 170 degrees Celsius. Hot melt adhesives are multi-polymer adhesives that enable the blending of two or more polymers and additives to modify certain properties.

What makes hot-melted adhesives superior to solvent-based ones?

Advantages of hot melt adhesive:

1.longer shelf life

2.high initial adhesion

3.high bonding strength

4.good cleaning free effect

5.can be disposed of readily and typically without the need for extra care ((how to dispose of it is crucial)

6.do not lose thickness when they harden (layer thickness is lost by 50–70% with solvent-based adhesives)

Disadvantages of HMAs:

1.reduction of bond strength at higher temperatures (using an adhesive that needs to cure is the solution).

2.might not be impervious to chemical and weather threats.
