PUR for Profile Wrapping

Profile Wrapping Adhesive is a type of adhesive used to bond decorative materials (such as films, decorative panels, wood veneers, etc.) to the surfaces of shaped substrates (such as wood, metal, PVC profiles, etc.). Through methods like hot melt or moisture curing, it securely wraps decorative materials onto substrates, widely used in industries like furniture, construction, doors, and windows to enhance product aesthetics and functionality.

Characteristic

Versatility: Suitable for various substrates (e.g., wood, metal, PVC) and decorative materials (e.g., films, decorative panels, wood veneers).

High Adhesion: Ensures strong bonding between different material combinations, providing long-lasting wrapping effects.

Heat Resistance: Modern hot melt adhesives and moisture-curing polyurethane (PUR) hot melt adhesives offer excellent heat resistance, making them suitable for high-temperature environments.

Water Resistance: Moisture-curing PUR hot melt adhesives provide superior water resistance, ideal for high-humidity environments.

Fast Curing: Adapts to high-speed production lines, improving efficiency.

Eco-Friendliness: Some adhesives comply with environmental standards like RoHS, reducing environmental impact.

Adaptability to Complex Shapes: Perfectly wraps curves and angles, suitable for irregularly shaped substrates.

Advantages

High-Quality Wrapping: Provides smooth, bubble-free, and seamless surfaces, enhancing product aesthetics.

Durability: Offers excellent heat resistance, water resistance, and weather resistance, extending product lifespan.

Wide Applicability: Suitable for various substrates and decorative materials, meeting the needs of different industries.

Efficient Production: Fast curing and strong adhesion adapt to high-speed production lines, improving efficiency.

Eco-Friendly and Safe: Some adhesives use environmentally friendly materials, complying with standards like RoHS.

Cost Reduction: Reduces material waste and rework rates, lowering production costs.

Application

Furniture Industry:
Used for wrapping edges and irregular parts of furniture to enhance aesthetics and durability.
Common materials include wood veneers, decorative panels, PVC films, etc.

Construction Industry:
Used for wrapping building profiles such as door and window frames, baseboards, and wall panels.
Provides waterproof, moisture-proof, and weather-resistant properties.

Automotive Interiors:
Used for wrapping automotive interior components (e.g., dashboards, door panels).
Enhances the aesthetics and tactile feel of interiors.

Electronics:
Used for wrapping electronic product casings, providing insulation and protection.
Common materials include PET and PP films.

Metal Wrapping:
Used for wrapping metal substrates like aluminum and steel profiles.
Provides anti-corrosion and decorative effects.

Packaging Industry:
Used for wrapping high-end packaging materials to elevate product quality.
Common materials include metal foils and plastic films.

Substrate Requirements: The surface must be flat, clean, and free of oil, dust, and other contaminants. PVC film requires a back-coating treatment, while plastic steel and wood-plastic composite surfaces require activation treatment.

Adhesive Application Rate: 25-70g/m² (rate depends on film thickness and porosity of substrate).

Environmental Requirements: Optimal at 15-30°C (59-86°F), with air humidity maintained around 50-75%.

Support: OEM/Custom/Wholesale PUR Profile Wrapping Hot Melt Adhesive.

How to Use PUR Profile Wrapping Hot Melt Adhesive?

Identify the substrates to be bonded (MDF, solid wood, aluminum alloy, plastic, etc.) and the wrapping materials (PVC film, PET film, solid wood veneer, leather, etc.), and request the adhesive supplier to provide a suitable PUR hot melt adhesive.

Open the temperature panel of the wrapping machine, set the temperature (130-150°C), and preheat the PUR hot melt adhesive.

Set the machine's adhesive application amount and wrapping speed, then begin wrapping.

Allow the finished product to rest in a natural environment for 48 hours before proceeding to the next processing step.

Application Instructions for PUR Profile Coating Hot-Melt Adhesive

PVC film requires back coating. MDF surfaces must be flat and clean. PVC-steel, wood-plastic, and acrylic panels require surface activation treatment.

Recommended ambient temperature: 15-30°C. Heating equipment is required below 10°C.

Avoid exposing adhesive to air or moisture prior to use.

Seal adhesive nozzles during production stoppages. For downtime exceeding one week, clean hoses and nozzles.

PUR Profile Edge Banding Hot Melt Adhesive FAQ

Q1. What are the advantages of PUR profile edge banding hot melt adhesive compared to EVA profile edge banding hot melt adhesive?

A1. PUR profile edge banding hot melt adhesive is a reactive polyurethane adhesive. Compared to EVA hot melt adhesive, it offers superior bonding strength, high-temperature resistance, moisture resistance, and solvent resistance. Consequently, finished products are better suited for high-temperature, high-humidity container shipping and for use in harsh environments such as outdoors or damp bathrooms.

Q2. Why does the wrapping material fail to adhere after PUR hot melt adhesive application?

A2. a. Special wrapping materials were not pretreated (e.g., heating, electrostatic treatment, or application of a coupling agent). b. Insufficient pressure from the pressure roller. c. Inadequate adhesive application volume. d. Bonding commenced before the adhesive reached the required heating temperature.

Q3. Why does “bubbling” appear on the board surface after PUR hot melt adhesive wrapping?

A3. a. Board surfaces were not dusted or polished. b. Board moisture content was too high. c. Insufficient pressure from the pressure roller. d. Ambient temperature was too high.
